Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL), the official registry for the .bd country code top-level domain (ccTLD), has announced the launch of second-level .bd domains, marking a key milestone in strengthening Bangladesh’s digital identity.
Previously, .bd domains were available only under third-level extensions such as .com.bd, .net.bd, .info.bd, and .edu.bd. With the new launch, businesses, organizations, and individuals can now register shorter and more brandable web addresses directly under .bd (e.g., yourname.bd), offering greater flexibility and online visibility.
In line with BTRC guidelines and international best practices, BTCL will conduct a three-month Grandfathering Period before public registration begins. During this phase, trademark owners and verified entities will have priority to secure their names and prevent misuse.
This initiative marks a major step forward for Bangladesh’s digital ecosystem—creating new opportunities for innovation, trust, and national online presence.
