Bahrain has launched its new .bh open to everyone without any more restriction: no more local presence/prior right/documents requirements. Trademark holders are now invited to file their prioritised applications and registration will available to everyone from May 3rd 2022.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain has started a campaign to explain how to register new domain names for Bahrain (.bh), show how important and beneficial the domain name for Bahrain is, and explain how the TRA will make domain names available to businesses and the public in an easy way.
Domain names will be available for assignment to mostly IT companies, including telecommunications companies that have been licensed by the TRA to assign domain names on behalf of the TRA. This means that both local and international customers can apply for a domain name.
There is a new way to register that is quick and easy. It also makes it safe. Being able to register your.bh domain in such a short time is good for Bahrain's digital presence in important areas like tourism, culture, and business. To help the kingdom get more of its services online, the government has made a decision. It gives local trademarks and people who are interested in technology a Bahraini identity when they register the domain name Bahrain. This makes their names different from the rest of the names of other websites. Registration of names will become easier and more accessible to everyone than it was before.
In addition to the.bh domain name, an International Top Level Domain Name in Arabic (.) has been set up for people who want to use the names of their websites in Arabic, as well. As soon as the service is available, people who have an online presence with a domain name ending in ".bh" (like edu.bh) will get first dibs on Arabic extensions for six months. After that, the service will be available to everyone else.
